Introduction |
|
Oriental Languages Department focuses
on three languages i.e. Arabic, Persian and Punjabi. The faculty of the department
consists of five teachers who are performing their duties diligently. The Department
is offering MA (Arabic),
Diploma in Arabic (evening program) and MA Persian programs
under semester system from the session 2008-09. Arabic, Persian and Punjabi are
being taught at bachelor level. The courses offered
by the department will appeal
to you if you have a keen interest in language and wish to include a strong dimension
in your degree. These courses will enable you to develop an advanced knowledge of
languages as a system and as a social medium of communication. These courses explore
the way in which languages are structured and used for different purposes in a range
of communicative contexts. These also help examine the understanding
of languages,
which have developed in fields such as sociolinguistics, pragmatics, discourse analysis
and language teaching. You will learn how people co-operate to create meaning and
how they use techniques such as polite strategies to communicate effectively.
